Before rejoining the NHL roster, he was on a conditioning loan with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League. His performance in the AHL gave the coaching staff the confidence to bring him back into the fold, as he showcased his skills in a 4-3 win against Lehigh Valley, stopping an impressive 33 shots.
